Kinda Petty - me thinks

LONDON — British Airways cut a cameo by Richard Branson from its in-flight version of the latest James Bond film and blurred out the tail fin of a Virgin Atlantic plane seen in the movie.

BA's entertainment team cut a cameo appearance by Branson, chairman of the rival airline Virgin Atlantic, that appears in the original version of Casino Royale, a spokesman confirmed Saturday. In the original film, Branson can be seen turning around after walking through a metal detector at Miami Airport.

“We screen all films before they're used on our aircraft so that we can control the content of what is displayed,” the spokesman said on condition of anonymity, in line with company policy. “We have full control over what is shown.”

The tail fin of a Virgin plane appearing in the film is also obscured in BA's in-flight version.

BA's entertainment team vets films on grounds of taste and suitability. Branson appeared in the film after his airline provided the producers with a plane to use in the movie.

Paul Charles, a spokesman for Virgin Atlantic, said it was a shame BA felt the cut was necessary. He said Virgin made no changes to Die Another Day, a Bond film featuring British Airways, adding his carrier's policy is not to edit the movies it shows.

“We think passengers should see the whole film and nothing but the whole film,” Mr. Charles said.

Relations between the rival British carriers were further strained last year after Virgin Atlantic Airways provided U.S. and British authorities with information that triggered an investigation of alleged airline price-fixing in passenger fares and fuel surcharges involving British Airways PLC.

Close, it was not.

After a great 1st period, the wheels fell off.

Hoping for better tonight.

Flames will have Brent Krahn on the pine tonight, Noodles apparantly has been given 5 games to feel shame. But in the big picture the point being made about the goalies being run may have been made loud and clear.

Ask Kipper, Luongo et al.

Well I was going to be quite complimentry to the Flames but... ahh just kidding, I was pretty bummed to see them lose.

That 4 minute penalty kill, 5 on 4, for Conroy's high sticking was the highlight of the game for me. If they could have just played with that kind of heart for the first part of the series it would have been their's for the taking.

At least I still have the Canucks... and then the Sens... and then sailing, mountain biking and golfing... and then back to beer drinking and hockey again this fall. biggrin.gif

Edit: What happened to AIP here... did he take last night that hard?

The question regarding the Flames is how much will the Kipper need in salary to continue to keep carring the team on his back.

Major changes required including the need for a Captain who will behave as a Captain (avoiding dumb fights) and inspiring the rest of the team to perform.

Goes back to the Roger Neilson days - waving a flag of surrender to the bad officiating.

That's fine with me. My team's still in, and with the best goalie in the league, they'll go far.

The best goalie in the league is with the Flames. Now if only he could be hooked up to a team with talent.

Forgot where I was chatting again...

Sorry... WILLIAMS! The now real estate tycoon of the GVRD.

Ducks in 5 maybe 6.

Burke gets the last laugh.

Luongo can't stop em all.

btw, as posted above the best goalie in the league wears the red of the Flames on his jersey.

Can a player ousted in the first round really win the Conn Smythe ? ? ?

If he's that good... why is he fighting for a tee off time now? Luongo has the tallent AND a team in front of him.

He's fighting for a Tee time now because he doesn't have a team in front of him... What can we do board up the net and play for the tie? dry.gif

I think Playfair will be down the road... The next question will be who will replace him? Will Sutter take two jobs or will he spend the summer recruiting a new Coach? Who's available?
