Naming names of what? The US based banks and advisors we use?

You said "Find a Canadian bank that doesn't have a conflict of interest with Bombardier" so how about a list of them?

Has it really slipped your attention that Canada has only several large full-service financial institutions?

Not at all, I was simply asking that those having conflicts because of connections to Bombardier be pointed out.  I still believe the study could have and should have been conducted by a Canadian Financial Institution.  To help you out in that regard I have attached a goto : http://www.osfi-bsif.gc.ca/Eng/wt-ow/Pages/wwr-er.aspx?sc=1&gc=1#WWRLink11

Bombardier has links to banks around the world including the US for example:

I have no idea what type of argument you are trying to have here or why.

I believe it is 100% plausible that suitable Canadian financial institutions were unable to advise on this potential transaction because of possible conflicts of interest. Your disagreement is noted.

And what does Bombardier Recreational Products have to do with anything? That's the Beaudoin family and Mitt Romney.

European, U.S. aviation bodies certify Bombardier CSeries aircraft

MONTREAL - Bombardier (TSX:BBD.B) says aviation authorities in Europe and the United States have now certified its CS100 series passenger planes, clearing the way for delivery of the aircraft to Swiss International Air Lines by the end of the month.

The Swiss carrier is scheduled to be the first to put the plane into commercial service in July.

Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration in the U.S. and the European Aviation Safety Agency follows a similar decision by Transport Canada in December 2015.

Montreal-based Bombardier has a lot riding on the success of the CSeries aircraft, which is two years behind schedule and has incurred about US$2 billion in cost overruns.

Bombardier received a major boost in late April when Delta Air Lines placed a firm order for 75 CS100 aircraft with options for another 50 in a deal the company said was worth approximately US$5.6 billion.

Bombardier said delivery of the aircraft to Delta, one of the largest airlines in the world, is expected to begin in 2018.

On Monday, Premier Philippe Couillard said Quebec is on track to finalize its US$1 billion investment in Bombardier's CSeries program and that a deal should be in place by the end of the month.

Federal Finance Minister Bill Morneau earlier said the government continues to talk with Bombardier about providing US$1 billion in funding.

Looks like a winner.

What it’s like to be a passenger on Bombardier’s CSeries jet

‎Today, ‎June ‎30, ‎2016, ‏‎1 hour ago | Damon van der Linde

Bombardier has marked a milestone in its CSeries program by handing over the first model of its new jet to Swiss International Air Lines this week.

As part of the ceremony at Montreal’s Mirabel airport, media, suppliers, politicians and Bombardier employees were taken up for a quick spin over the Laurentian Mountains for the CS100’s first North American flight.

Air travel has become less comfortable for a lot of people, so the nice thing about designing a plane like this from scratch, Bombardier says, is that you can customize it to have both the needs a modern passenger and modern airline in mind.

So after more than eight years and numerous delays, what is it like for a passenger flying on what the company calls “the most advanced single-aisle passenger jet in the world”?

This particular aircraft was a test model — not the one being delivered to Swiss — but the company says the ones going into action will offer a similar experience.

The cabin

The CS100 isn’t a huge plane, it’s a regional jet intended to carry 108 to 160 passengers on flights of a few hours. Still, it’s surprisingly roomy inside. The aisle is said to be the largest in its class and it gets lots of natural light with windows 50 per cent larger than its closest competitors.

Rob Dewar, vice-president of Bombardier’s CSeries aircraft program, says that because, on average, people around the world are bigger than they used to be, this plane was designed with larger frames in mind. Dewar says this is easy, being over six feet tall himself.

“As I was responsible for the development, I made sure I fit everywhere,” he said.

The seats

The CSeries being delivered to Swiss International is laid out with two seats on one side of the aisle and three on the other. While getting stuck between two strangers may seem like drawing the short straw on most flights, the CS100 offers a consolation prize by making the middle seat wider by an extra half-inch.

Bombardier says it was also able to modify the contour of the fuselage to gain two inches of extra shoulder width for people sitting in the window seat.

There was a lot of legroom, though the test model used on the ceremonial flight had 118 seats compared to the 125 that will be on plane outfitted for Swiss International. The Zodiac seats used in this plane are quite clever: When the backrest reclines the seat moves forward a little bit, squeezing out a little more room to stretch your legs and making sure the person sitting behind you doesn’t end up too cramped.

One downside to the two- and three-seat arrangement is that, from the aisle seat on the three-seat side, it was a big reach to adjust the fan, turn the light on and off, or call the flight attendant. This could mean an arm in someone’s face as you stretch past the person in the middle, or make it difficult for shorter-armed people to reach it at all.

Damon Van der Linde
Damon Van der LindeFor a regional jet the CS100 cabin is surprisingly roomy and gets lots of natural light.

The overhead bin

With many airlines charging for even one checked bag, it’s getting more and more common that when you bring your maxed-out carry-on allowance to the gate, it seems everyone else had the same idea. That means either struggling to find a place in the overhead bin or having to check a carry-on at the gate when you might have items you wanted to keep close during the flight.

The CSeries bins are cavernous. There’s enough room for every passenger to fit an oversized carry-on bag and they open low, so as to be within reach of people who are not so tall.

This wouldn’t stop airlines from charging for carry-on bags, but that is, of course, out of Bombardier’s hands.

Damon Van der Linde
Damon Van der LindeIt’s a bit of a stretch to reach the light, fan and call button from the CS100 aisle seat.

The noise

Initially dubbed the “whisper jet,” Bombardier says the CSeries has the lowest noise levels of any commercial jet in production, thanks in large part to its two Pratt & Whitney engines. The company says the brand new engine reduces noise by 50 to 75 per cent, which is supposed to make for a more comfortable flight and gives the plane more options when flying in and out of cities and other places with noise restrictions.

While it’s hard to gauge the noise level from memories of other flights, the CSeries wasn’t so loud that it would mean raising your voice to have a conversation.

“You didn’t really hear the takeoff but you probably felt the performance,” Dewar says.

The lavatories

From the sythetic granite sink to the laminate hardwood floors, the lavatories gave the impression there was some thought put into the design — not always easy to say about cramped airplane washrooms.

The CSeries lavatories are spacious and designed for people with reduced mobility and offer six inches of extra headroom compared to those of Bombardier’s competitors, according to Dewar.

Having a nice washroom is not a top priority for most passengers when buying a ticket, but once there, most appreciate a better experience.

The first CS100 left Montreal for Zurich on Thursday. Swiss International will begin regular service with the aircraft July 15, and receive another 29 planes between now and 2018.

Porter could fly CSeries out of airports other than Toronto’s Billy Bishop: CEO

Tue Jul 19, 2016 - Financial Post
Kristine Owram

Porter Airlines may not be allowed to fly Bombardier Inc.’s CSeries jet out of Toronto’s downtown airport, but the airline hasn’t ruled out bringing the jet to other Canadian airports, according to CEO Robert Deluce.

Porter has been evaluating its future since Transport Minister Marc Garneau tweeted in November that Ottawa would not re-open the tripartite agreement that bans jets from flying out of the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

This quashed Deluce’s dream of bringing the CSeries to the airport, which is located just south of the city’s downtown core on the Toronto Islands. Opponents had expressed concerns about noise, although the CSeries has been confirmed as the quietest commercial jet in its class.

That won’t happen for the foreseeable future, but Porter hasn’t walked away from its conditional order, worth as much as US$2.08 billion at list prices, for up to 30 CS100 jets from Bombardier.

“Our deposits are still in place for the original conditional order,” Deluce said in an interview Tuesday.

He cautioned not to read too much into that, but added that Porter wants to keep its options open. The Toronto-based airline has a fleet of 29 planes and operates flights in Eastern Canada and the northeastern seaboard in the U.S.

“There may be opportunities for us to operate the CS100 aircraft from various other airports in the future if that ends up being the right direction for Porter at that time,” Deluce said.

For now, the airline has no plans to add any additional routes. Porter bought three more Q400s, worth US$93 million at list price, from Bombardier last week and Deluce said those will be used to “reinforce” its existing network and improve schedule reliability.

“We’re still at the point where we’re assessing what the right longer-term move is for Porter,” he said.

"We may well have the strongest balance sheet of any airline in North America and maybe even the world at this point"

.

Me too. I hope they can eventually do something with those orders. 50 years to get some kind of connection between lower Bathurst Sr. and YTZ. I don't think one little MP from Spadina is going to stop the this project from further expansion.

I don't think Vaughn is a long-term problem. He wants a cabinet position as "Minister of Toronto" and he isn't going to get it and then he will just turn his attention to running for mayor.

Bombardier Inc’s CSeries showing ‘much higher’ reliability than competitors, Swiss Air Lines says

Kristine Owram | August 24, 2016 | Last Updated: Aug 24 3:57 PM ET

Swiss International Air Lines Ltd., which offered the first-ever CSeries commercial flight on July 15, said the aircraft is performing better than some Boeing Co. and Airbus Group SE jets did during their first few weeks in operation.
Clement Sabourin/AFP/Getty ImagesSwiss International Air Lines Ltd., which offered the first-ever CSeries commercial flight on July 15, said the aircraft is performing better than some Boeing Co. and Airbus Group SE jets did during their first few weeks in operation.

The first airline to fly Bombardier Inc.’s CSeries says the jetliner has been significantly more reliable in its first month of operation than other aircraft built by its competitors.

An aircraft’s dependability is often measured by its dispatch reliability, or the percentage of flights that depart on time. Swiss International Air Lines Ltd., which offered the first-ever CSeries commercial flight on July 15, said the aircraft is performing better than some Boeing Co. and Airbus Group SE jets did during their first few weeks in operation.

“The dispatch reliability of the first aircraft has already reached a high value, much higher than in comparison with the dispatch reliability of other new aircraft types during phase-in,” Swiss spokeswoman Karin Muller said in an email, pointing specifically to Airbus’s A380 and A320neo and Boeing’s 787.

She added that the CSeries’ dispatch reliability has not yet reached the desired level of 99 per cent, but Swiss won’t release more detailed numbers until at least five aircraft have been in operation for at least three months.

Swiss now has two CS100 aircraft in operation after the second one entered service last week. The airline has placed a firm order for 15 CS100s and 15 of the larger-variety CS300s.

The CSeries experienced some minor glitches in its first week of operation. The very first flight, from Zurich to Paris, was delayed by an hour when airport ramp staff disconnected a ground power cable too soon, forcing a power restart.

Four days later, a flight from Zurich to Manchester, U.K., turned back after the plane experienced a problem with its air-conditioning system.

Muller described these as “small technical and operational issues” that didn’t hurt the phase-in process.

“With our daily experience and the support by Bombardier on-site, these issues and insecurities regarding the handling have already noticeably decreased,” she said.

The feedback from our pilots is gratifying. They especially like the intuitive flying experience.

Swiss has also experienced some minor cabin design issues that it is addressing with Bombardier and which may delay delivery of the next aircraft by “a few weeks,” but overall the experience has been encouraging, Muller added.

“The customer feedback is very positive with the expected remarks concerning the bright cabin, reduced noise, enough leg room and space for hand luggage as well as the comfortable seats,” she said. “Also the feedback from our pilots is gratifying. They especially like the intuitive flying experience.”

Earlier this month, Bombardier CEO Alain Bellemare described the feedback from Swiss and its passengers as “outstanding.”

The positive reception has been a relief for the company, which had struggled with delays, cost overruns and serious doubts about demand for the aircraft. Recent orders from Air Canada and Delta Air Lines Inc. have helped to ease those concerns.

The larger CS300 version of the jetliner was certified by Transport Canada in July and is expected to enter service with Air Baltic Corp. by the end of the year.

Personally, I am thrilled that Bombardier, through all it's launch struggles, has built another wonderful aircraft by the looks and sounds of it (pun intended).  We should all be proud of this company and what means for this country and our industry.
