dagger
Sadly, the Buffalo News is reporting large number of deaths. The house the plane hit was totalled. Reports on airliners.net that pilots were reporting icing conditions between 4,000 and 8,000 feet, if that's possible. http://www.buffalonews.com/home/story/577959.html FAA confirms 48 aboard, two people on the ground suffered minor injuries. Yeah, that's more than a reasonable condition, very possible, but unlikely the cause, unless there were severe icing conditions, and even then not likely... Condolences to all involved. Buzz2
Not trying to be an armchair quaterback, but being an experienced dash pilot, the company's are stretching these airplanes to their limits, it is tasking on the flight crew, but the ISMS reports seem to satisfy TC
Don Hudson
As aviators, our hearts go out to the families of the victims, crew and passengers alike. The news of a crash, especially with fatalities, is always "new" in the sense that we never "get used to it" - how painful the night must be for the families. Moon The Loon
Very sad. My deepest condolences go out to the innocents in the house. Also to family and friends of the passengers and crew. Icing on approach could indeed cause something like this especially if aggravated by other events, but we'll really have to wait and see. The photograph of the tail section on CNN would seem to indicate there is a good possibility of retrieving the data recorders.

Moon The Loon
I like watching the news in the morning. But I have had enough of the 'experts' Maybe we need the equivalent of The Darwin Awards for aviation journalistic reporting idiocy.
