blues deville
The caption mentions a spectacular entrance from Madrid. From the viewpoint of this photo, it's appears to be inches away from being très spectaculaire.http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iberia/Airbus-A340-313/2773840/M/
DEFCON
Is the flap setting appropriate to landing?
Guest
Quite likely that things look slightly exaggerated in the photo based on focal length and other possible settings too. It's difficult to pinpoint the distance between the tail and surface because of the depth of field, but other clues like relative bogey angle and flap setting might be readily apparent to you heavy drivers. Moon The Loon
Certainly doesn't look like a normal flap setting for landing. And as his mains haven't settled, it looks like a tail strike in the making. Wonder what the next couple of photos look like. That was pic #64 of 65. Maybe pic #65 is the captain's new assignment! boestar
It doesn't look any worse than just about every L-1011 landing.
blues deville
It doesn't look any worse than just about every L-1011 landing. With the L1011 there wasn't as much fuselage after the wing.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wRBKiDeZVHQ
blues deville
Here's a slightly nose lower attitude. From the camera sound/wind noise perhaps a different flap setting.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M7Lstev36Pc
blues deville
Two different airplanes Blues (A343 vs. A345).BTW, a "Flap 3" landing would give a higher pitch angle than a "Flaps Full" landing. Many Airbus operators promote "Flap 3" approaches & landings to save fuel.Yah I realized that after I posted the landing video. Does Airbus recommend a different landing technique between the two A340 models? Here's a nice video.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MiFjn50kGOY
