Lucky Contest Winners Travel Around the World with

98 Degrees & the Goo Goo Dolls

Final Destination Is Network's Times Square Studio for New Year's Eve Concert

and Bash Featuring Bush, Blink 182, Christina Aguilera and More

NEW YORK, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- On December 20th, MTV's "Fly 2K," the network's custom-made, millennium party plane, will take off from New York City with 10 lucky winners plus 10 guests from across the U.S., and set off for a truly global adventure. Their first stop will be Cairo, land of the pyramids, where additional international winners from MTV channels around the world will join them. Traveling to some of the world's most famous locales, "Fly 2K" will feature in-flight entertainment by The Goo Goo Dolls, 98 Degrees and MTV's very own DJ Skribble.

The final stop on the global tour will be MTV's Time Square Studios where the lucky winners will celebrate the turn of the Millennium from a very special front-row seat overlooking New York's Times Square. MTV's exclusive New Year's Eve Millennium Bash will feature performances by Bush, Blink 182, Christina Aguilera as well "Fly 2K" entertainers, The Goo Goo Dolls and 98 Degrees. Additional performers will be announced shortly.

"This year, this century, the party in Times Square will be off the charts. And MTV has the best seat on the planet ... in fact, we have window front property. We're inviting all the bands our viewers love, and when the ball drops, you can count on MTV to be in full party mode. But what really makes the difference is our global connection ... we will link to all the viewers who watch MTV from India to London, and all the music heard round the world, because this is one New Year's Eve that truly connects everyone," said Judy McGrath, President of MTV.

Between December 20th and December 30th, MTV's "Fly 2K" will touch down in such exotic locations as Cairo, Rome, Paris and London, returning to New York City just in time to ring in the New Year. Viewers across the U.S. will be able to enter for a chance to go along on the "Fly 2K" journey on Monday, November 29th when a special party plane 800-number is revealed by 98 Degrees on "Total Request Live" or by logging on to mtv.com or America Online (Keyword: MTV). This will be a one-time only opportunity to enter.

MTV's international channels around the world will also run their own local contests for viewers to win a spot on "Fly 2K." MTV Latin America (Northern and Southern feeds), MTV Australia, MTV Asia (Southeast Asian, Mandarin, Indian, and Korean feeds), MTV Europe (European, Central, Southern, Nordic and UK/Ireland feeds) and MTV Russia will each pick one winner, plus one guest, to fly to Cairo to join the U.S. winners on what promises to be the trip of a lifetime.

Beginning December 13th, U.S. viewers at home will get an advance look at the plane preparations on the wildly popular "Total Request Live," which airs daily Monday - Friday between 3:30pm and 5:00pm (ET/PT). Daily updates from MTV's "Fly 2K" crew will also be featured on "TRL" throughout their incredible trip.

"Fly 2K," a 250-passenger DC10 chartered through Air Royale of Canada, is generously sponsored by Pepsi, America Online, Wherehouse and 989 Studios.

I'm probably wrong but I don't think CP had a DC 10 at that time. The company referred to at the end of the above article was a company out of Morroco. Perhaps they bought/leased the aircraft from CDN??

Mitch probably knows when his beloved aircraft left YYZ :biggrin1:(never heard of a contest but then again they didn't ask a Truckasaurus Rex crew !!!)
