Search and Rescue on scene and they have a good ELT fix. Had him on radar then disappeared. Apparently the pilots dad is a 340 Capt at AC. Prayers to the families. Jumpy Posted September 24, 2003 Share Posted September 24, 2003 Calgary-bound plane goes missing POSTED AT 11:27 AM Wednesday, September 24 Search and rescue crews are looking for a missing plane somewhere in Southern Alberta. Officials with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre based out of CFB Trenton in Ontario have confirmed that they are looking for a plane that went missing last night on its way from Cranbrook to Calgary. The twin engine Cessna 414 disappeared off radar somewhere in Alberta. The plane left for the 1-hour flight to Calgary International Airport at around 7 o'clock yesterday evening but it never arrived. The plane is registered to a company based in Edmonton. One person was on-board. A military Buffalo aircraft based out of Comox, B.C. is currently searching the area where the plane is believed to have come down. An additional Hercules aircraft is flying in from Winnipeg. A ground search team and helicopter from Cold Lake, Alberta are also on the way. This kind of news is quite unnerving when you have friends who are 340 captains who have sons flying in the area.
