  1. He must have ignored the directive to leave his wallet behind for weight and balance.
  2. Shameless blatant bump, for the sake of bumping.
  3. You'd be amazed how easy a group of air cadets who play flight sim in their spare time can make it look. Having said that, if it was a real situation, aside from all the variables of weather conditions, etc, I would think that adrenalin would turn your cognitive skills to mush. I certainly couldn't do it.
  4. What was the voter turnout and popular vote when Harper got elected?
  5. Do you work for an airline? What is the policy for service during delays where you work?
  6. MD2 said: "Especially not giving people water is unacceptable. Regardless of the logistics, water should be offered to passengers as soon as the delay goes much beyond 10-15 minutes." So you think that water should be served after a 10 minute delay? Do you think that is reasonable, realistic, and necessary? How often do you need to drink water when you're not on an airplane?
  7. It's a pretty great experience for aviation enthusiasts. It's not a busy airport though, you have to time your visit for when the big jets are coming in, but it's pretty neat being in that close proximity to widebodies taking off and landing.
  8. Have you ever been there deicer? It is every bit as awesome as it looks.
  9. Why do you need another handle? You've had 7 in the last 6 years and you're still here. There's obviously nothing you can say or do to get evicted, so you might as well be the biggest asshole you can possibly be. Aim high buddy.
  10. Same reason the Germanwings guy didn't? Anger issues? Loose screw?
  11. Here's another list: hate crimes against gays in the US. I think it would be fair to say that the vast majority of these were inspired by Leviticus. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_violence_against_LGBT_people_in_the_United_States
  12. Yes, it is possible to be gay and homophobic at the same time. http://www.advocate.com/politics/politicians/2015/05/29/16-antigay-leaders-exposed-gay-or-bi
  13. The ultimate goal of ISIS is to create a holy war between their "Islamic state" and western society. In order for them to succeed, they need to recruit losers who blame their problems on western society, and one of their greatest recruiting tools is anti Muslim rhetoric from Westerners who can't differentiate between a whole race or religion and it's most extreme criminal elements. In other words, they need to recruit losers from both sides for it to work. So, congratulations, you've been recruited. The thing with human beings is that we all have free will. ISIS didn't make this
  14. Whatever his reasons, he was a loser and an asshole who wasn't even particularly devout or religious, who used religion as an excuse to kill a bunch of people in a country where it's okay to be homophobic, and it's easy to buy assault weapons. And it's not just the Muslim extremists that are happy about it. https://mobile.twitter.com/WBCSaysRepent?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author
  15. Someone not in the business sent me this photo of an Eva Air 747 landing in Amsterdam, and was wondering if it's a real photo or photoshopped. Anyone?
  16. Base Borden is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Events include air shows both Saturday and Sunday. http://www.bordenairshow.ca
  17. This is an interesting article on how anonymity has spawned the phenomenon of the internet troll. I've often wondered about the psychology of someone who hides behind a pseudonym just for the purpose of getting other people wound up. What kind of lives do they lead, or what has happened to them in the past that would cause them to derive enjoyment from upsetting other people? If you met one in real life, would he be a loud obnoxious jerk like his online persona, or a soft spoken and affable gentleman? Fascinating subject.
  18. Really great website for vintage aircraft enthusiasts. Lots of info on the aircraft types, as well as upcoming airshows. There are even a few familiar names and faces on the list of pilots. http://www.vintagewings.ca/en-ca/home.aspx
  19. I wasn't punked. I posted it as a satirical response to the mountain that was being made out of a molehill. I just assumed everyone else would recognize it as satire. The picture is so badly photoshopped, I'm surprised no one noticed.
  20. You both have valid points. If your job is important enough to require a license, then that license should be revoked at the first sign of mental health issues. And resources for mental health issues should be available to everyone, not just those with jobs that have great responsibility. And having said that, I don't think a company should have the right to fire an employee who is on stress leave or struggling with mental health issues until those issues have been resolved. Is that even legal?
  21. Published in National Entire NDP caucus arrive in neck braces, wheelchairs to House of Commons after Trudeau's assault Thursday, 19 May 2016 13:57 Written by James Bunting font size 32.5K 845 Reddit567 Photo credit: Aaron Hagey-MacKay OTTAWA - All 44 members of the NDP caucus arrived in Parliament this morning wearing neck braces, arm slings, head bandages, and seated in wheelchairs after yesterday’s physical altercation with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. “Justin
  22. Happy birthday Kip! ...and better late than never.
  23. If I'm understanding this correctly, they paid the fee to reserve 2 seats together, so theoretically, the child could sit with one of the parents in those seats, and the other parent could sit elsewhere, and maybe even ask someone to switch so they can sit together. Instead they're making it sound like Air Canada is forcing them to sit in those 2 seats, separated from their toddler. In fact, you can avoid paying the reserved seat fee altogether if you don't use the Tango fares. That's what Tango fares are - they're cheap fares where you have the option to pay fees for whatever extras are im
  24. Maybe some threads are just meant to be lost? Everyone has their own tolerance levels, maybe for some, losing the odd thread is a small price to pay for not having your day ruined by the same few disgruntled guys every time you log in. Or, like you say, you can temporarily unignore the poster if the topic is of interest, and you're willing to risk having your blood boil.
  25. I've also heard similar complaints from other posters that this forum isn't as enjoyable as it used to be because the atmosphere has gone from friendly neighbourhood pub to "tea party". I hope that we won't continue to lose members who have contributed value and wisdom to discussions here over the years, but for anyone who is finding certain posters extreme, or objectionable, or just generally killing your buzz, there is an ignore feature on this forum that will make those people invisible to you, and you can go back to enjoying friendly banter with people you enjoy.
