Kip Powick
From an article discussing air fares Air Canada ended bereavement fares in North America this month, nearly two years after it simplified fares in a fashion similar to Delta. I wasn't aware that this had happened....how about the other airlines in Canada?? Do they have "Bereavement fares" and if they do , what is the reduction , percentage?? AC used to be 50% I believe. EDIT : Apparently AC offers the fares only on International flights now.
Guest long keel
I believe the average tango fare was less than the old bereavement fare, hence why they were dropped at AC.

Canus Chinookus
ok, that's fine that the tango fare is normally lower than a bereavment fare, but don't you have to book far in advance to get a tango fare? Isn't a last minute fare expensive?

Isn't a last minute fare expensive? You could book a flight this afternoon from YYC to YYZ for $424 one-way. Tonight just after midnight there is a flight for $280 and 6am tomorrow morning for $249. The fare basis for the 75% compassionate reduction is $1213 or $303.

Super 80
one of my friends recently looked into this to send his mother to a funeral in asia, booking online though one of the travel mega-sites was less expensive than the AC bereavement fare. I am suprised many people are even aware they exist.
