  2. I applied for my renewal last fall, before it expired….paid my $50 fee….. The only confirmation I received was my $50 being reci’d and debited. Logged in to the DHS website to check my account to find application “in process” As a caution, do not expect to use your card (if renewal in process and past expiry date). I phoned our local CBP office to talk with an officer to clarify of Nexus use as I had heard of some people getting their card seized at the border. He said it is a bit of a gray area and depends on the officer you are dealing with. Caveat emptor.
  3. At a rate of descent of 31000 fpm, the tail probably was ripped off!
  4. Not sure if the photo was meant for widespread publicity, but you think the chief pilot and captain would have worn something more professional than old jeans and track shoes. It must have made a good impression when they picked up the airplane from the Mro in Ireland. Times are changing I guess.
  5. Kind of like the “howl” of the 320 landing lights! https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/mobile/garneau-asks-air-canada-to-hush-noisy-jets-1.3739867

  7. From the ad on LinkedIn, I’m surprised they don’t have an age restriction for a DEC. Most overseas carriers have that caveat, or would that be considered age discrimination in Canada.
  8. Anybody want a fixer up’er?? …tug/mooring/island not included. Key words in listing……”1913” and “aground”. https://www.boatdealers.ca/boats-for-sale/457375/1913-106-x-21-historic-houseboat-project-boat-rockport-ontario
  9. Well since it’s Christmas……previously listed at $12mill…. https://www.platinumfighters.com/inventory-2/1944-north-american-xp-82-
  10. As the political heat builds up on the overdue replacement of Canadas front line fighter aircraft, how long will it be before it is pointed out that our woke, feminist, virtue signalling prime minister was 11 YEARS OLD when the deliveries started on the F 18!!!
  11. A preliminary report has been released and raises concerns about the FAA part “rules” the a/c was being operated and I assume, maintained under. The on site inspection of the aircraft indicated the elevators could not be moved….skip to the 11 min mark on the link.
  12. From an unofficial source……..looking like a flight control problem. Source reports that as a/c accelerated down runway, at Vr, control inputs were applied and aircraft did not rotate! Reject carried out and went off the paved portion……reverse thrust was used, but buckets stowed when a/c stopped “out of habit”.
  13. Gee…if I was a decision maker of a company that was trying to decide where to locate…..would I want this type of scrutiny of the management?? What would the critics say if Tesla or Google wanted to locate in Quebec?? Would they demand the same standard?
  14. More info ….. Not specific if it was down for Mtc….but wow, that a long time for an a/c to sit!! And then go flying with pax on board…imo.
  15. Who says trickle down economics don’t work?? Too bad the jobs are involved in the construction of this monster are in the Netherlands…… https://www.businessinsider.com/jeff-bezos-superyacht-photos-video-2021-10
  16. I thought all dc9/md 80 ac had leading edge devices.
  17. A step back in time…..a ship built 5 years before the Titanic, preserved! The last of her kind in the world….and it is Toronto’s backyard (for now). https://sskeewatin.com/ Lots of interior pictures in associated sites.
  18. Not a lot of runway ….. 6100’……I thought the trust reversers would be deployed unless stowing them is part of evac drill. I had a look on Google Earth, and there were 2 MD 80 series of jets on the ramp.
  19. I listened to Safety Minister Blair (doofus) try to explain why negative PCR tests are still required for double vaccinated Canadians returning to Canada when the postitvety rate is .2%.... POINT 2%. (he even corrected the interviewer who said it was .5%). he said it was about keeping Canadians safe and following the science.....no word about the science or effects from 1000"s of truckdrivers which cross every day, with no testing or requirements for vaccine!!!!
  20. Not sure why they wouldn’t see a 320 on the runway ahead of them unless…..
  21. https://www.platinumfighters.com/inventory-2/1962-cf-104d-starfighter?fbclid=IwAR0_XNOl5H3HTJT8LVRx8C6mFvISg5dNdXcaO4b6FVk2gyGhsQQWEqRm5HY Imagine how cool it would be to taxi up and park in front of your local flying club with this! A great looking aircraft after 60 years!
  22. Here’s a true WTF moment….what a waste! https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/stearman-crashes-after-highway-takeoff/?MailingID=723&utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=Drone+Detection+App%2C+Virgin+Ungrounded&utm_campaign=Drone+Detection+App%2C+Virgin+Ungrounded-Monday%2C+October+4%2C+2021
  23. From the tv show Jeopardy: Clue…..What US city had a painted “Welcome to Cleveland” sign on a building roof near the airport, as a joke for passengers? Answer….. Milwaukee http://archive.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/15-minutes-of-fame-for-welcome-to-cleveland-sign-lasts-37-years-b99627742z1-360471381.html
  24. I’ve lost track of operators out of YOW……are there any charter operators that would fly across the border to OGS or ART?? Similar to what Great Lakes Helicopter is doing out of YSN to get snowbirds across the border. Back in the day, the Brockville Flying Club an Smiths Falls FC (I think) had a charter license. I know Brockville isn’t active, not sure about Smiths Falls.
