That detonation testing was personally observed by highly experienced FAA propulsion engineers. boestar Posted June 12 Share Posted June 12 100 LL and 100UL should have the same detonation characteristics since they share the same AKI. The issue comes with the older engines not having the hardened Valves and seats which the lead helped protect. This was an issue when lead was removed from Auto Gas, the Valves started to see damage that the lead was actually helping to prevent.
