Guest Posted February 25, 2020 Share Posted February 25, 2020 Former World Curling Championed injured in Dryden Plane Crash Dryden, ON, Canada / CKDR Rayson Martyn February 24, 2020 09:43 pm Former world curling champion Rick Lang was injured after a Bearskin aircraft he and fellow curler Krista McCarville were in crashed Monday afternoon in Dryden. McCarville told our Thunder Bay newsroom they were on a Bearskin Airlines flight that was taking off from the Dryden Airport. She says the aircraft was travelling down the runway when the pilot reported he had “no steering and no brakes.” McCarville says the plane then skidded into a snowbank and the propeller pierced the cabin fuselage striking Lang in the hand. Lang was treated and released from hospital and is going to be driven back to Thunder Bay on Tuesday. McCarville and a friend were being driven back to the city late Monday night. McCarville is the Skip of the Northern Ontario Ladies team and Lang is the Coach They were returning to Thunder Bay from the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Dryden authorities say there were six passengers and two crew on board at the time. They confirm there were no life threatening injuries. The Transportation Safety Board has been notified. ILB Posted February 26, 2020 Share Posted February 26, 2020 CADORS 2020O0353 The pilot of a Bearskin Airlines Fairchild SA227-DC (C-GJVB/BLS344) from Dryden, ON (CYHD) to Sioux Lookout, ON (CYXL) reported a loss of control during take-off, resulting in the aircraft sustaining damage.
