Thanks Don, that was an excellent article on the subject.

Although I've never read any of Professor Chomsky's books I have spent quite a bit of time listening to many of his various lectures.

I think he offers a lot.

Thanks Don, I appreciate that you needed to withdraw your post.

Chomsky understands the media. I find his lectures easy to follow and wonder if the complexity you’re referring to in his books comes as a result of his need to ensure the reader is in possession of everything that goes into the mix when Chomsky contemplates his argument? Iow’s, when he lectures, he’s confident of his ability to deliver his message with a minimum number of words, but not so much when he’s writing?

I just caught the end of a piece on CNN and don’t know who the guest was at the moment, but he did advise that the US State Department requires two full years to vet one refugee and involves four different agencies in the process.

I think this particular round of refugees is going to receive a fair vetting and as others have expressed, there’s all kinds of people coming & going by air on a daily basis that represent at least as much risk as the refugee, but without receiving anywhere near the same scrutiny. I remain of the position that any enemy that’s coming is likely already here and waiting to be awakened.

U.S. issues worldwide travel warning over 'increased terrorist threats' Warning lists increased threats from ISIS, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and other terrorist groupsThe U.S. State Department is warning Americans of possible risks of travel due to increased threats from terrorist groups. (Nam Y. Huh/Associated Press)Share

Americans should be alert to the possible travel risks, especially during the holidays, following increased terrorist threats around the world, the State Department warned on Monday.

A travel alert, which is to be in effect until Feb. 24, said current information suggests that militants with ISIS, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and other terrorist groups continue to plan attacks in multiple regions. U.S. authorities said the likelihood of terror attacks will continue as members of ISIS return from Syria and Iraq, and other individuals not affiliated with terror groups engage in violence on their own.

Extremists have targeted sporting events, theatres, open markets and aviation targets. In the past year, there have been multiple attacks in France, Nigeria, Denmark, Lebanon, Turkey and Mali. ISIS has claimed responsibility for the Oct. 31 bombing of a Russian airliner in Egypt, killing 224 people.

"U.S. citizens should exercise vigilance when in public places or using transportation," the alert said. "Be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid large crowds or crowded places. Exercise particular caution during the holiday season and at holiday festivals or events."

The State Department said the U.S. is exchanging information with allies about threats of international terrorism.

The travel alert was issued the same day that Belgium's prime minister announced that Brussels would remain at the highest alert level for at least another week. The increased security measures following the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris that killed 130 people have virtually shut down the Belgian capital.
