Southwest In The Rough

Not the first time (or last) for someone to miss a taxiway or a turn but this one went off-roading in Orlando. Was there a n/w steering or brake problem?

Crew taxiing 737 to MCO maintenance hangar parks airplane in a ditch.

Definately an "Oh **bleep**" moment. There appears to be damage to the left engine also. AVherald has a more comprehensive report on the accident.

The reports mention "crew" were moving the aircraft. I'm not sure if that's maintenance or flight crew. Ground control cleared them to cross the active runway "no delay" due to traffic on 3 mile final.

All thrust lever, no tiller? :(

Hi JO...if they made it that far from the terminal likely the pin wasn't in.

Likely both engines were running but if there was high asymmetric thrust from #1 applied to get across the runway in a hurry, a light nosewheel may not prevent the unwanted yaw / turn.
