Anybody got any suggestions for a good flyin' and shootin' computer game to get out some frustration?... I feel like blasting around in a Spitfire or a Mustang and blowing bits and pieces off some poor shlep's tail... Maybe I'll try some hot-doggin' on a gravel road somewhere... Or maybe try playin' some thrash on this here acoustic guitar?... nawww... gravel roads or guns from an old, loud and fast fighter sound like more fun. How's everyone else? Lots of free addons avail on the web (aircraft, scenery, missions etc.) Since FS3 has come out FS2 has dropped in price but is still a good package and continues to be supported by the gamers. vanishing point Posted November 2, 2003 Share Posted November 2, 2003 Any of the Combat Flight Simulator versions are great. First one is pretty basic by today's standards but still great fun. Time-line is during the Battle of Britain and a couple of years after that. You can fly for the Brits, USA or the Luftwaffe. CFS2 is a major leap forward in performance and graphics and my personal favourite. It's set in the Pacific Theatre. Where else can you get to fly off carriers for either the US or the IJN? Since CFS3 came out, it's dropped in price. CFS3 is the latest. One must have a really good system to run it properly (hence I can't get it to run as well as I'd like). Time-line is mid-WWII until the end of the war BUT in the "Campaign" mode-of-play, you can actually change the course of history and continue events past 1945. As well, you can fly a lot of experimental aircraft built by both the Allies and Axis. Check out www.microsoft.com/games/combatfs2 for a look. Type in "combatfs3" for a look at that game. "Crimson Skies" is also a good one. It's been out awhile so cost is down. Also by Microsoft. I find them to be very good therapy in these troubling times. Happy hunting!! It's a rather primitive urge at that I suppose... or "primal" maybe? But I guess it's better to get the frustrations out on some graphically simulated image than on my car and a gravel road. Still though... there's something satisfyingly exhilarating about whipping along on the very edge of control...
