Say Altitude
..by the lack of commentary on the recent announcement of mgmt staff and pay reductions at AC. There is a line up of people ready to chuck "sh!t" at how RM et al are not "leading by example" with respect to pay and staff reductions. Cutting 25% of this particular groups jobs and 40% of the payroll expense is proof positive in my opinion about them "leading by example" - BUT NOT ONE PERSON HAS SAID, "HEY THEY SHOULD BE CONGRATULATED FOR TAKING SOME HITS LIKE THE REST OF US OR FOR BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION." If you want to complain, fine. But also have the ability to pay kudos when they are due. Flame away.... "Air Canada slashes top jobs Last Updated Tue, 15 Jul 2003 7:27:54 MONTREAL - Air Canada is cutting 300 more white-collar jobs and losing five vice-presidents The company is re-organizing under bankruptcy-court protection. The cuts bring overall job reduction to 1,100 this year. CEO Robert Milton said management ranks would be reduced by more than 25 per cent eventually. He said responsibility would be pushed down to the next level of management. The airline said it now will have the fewest vice-presidents of any international carrier in North America. The 1,100 cuts, of which about 650 have already occurred, are expected to reduce the payroll cost in the white-collar group by almost 40 per cent." UpperDeck
If, for example, Brad Moore is not replaced at IFS then there will be a true reduction in management ranks and (hopefully) an increase in productivity. It is far too early to offer kudos for the reported staffing reduction.
Guest Boarding Card
You have to laugh at the press.. and AC.. 2 of these VP's are retiring, the other 3 are leaving to persue other interests.. perhaps they seen the light?? perhaps they are leaving a sinking ship?? They are making it sound like AC axed these people. to keep in line with the restructuring process.. BULL!
dragon
Make no mistake, RM did not 'LEAD by example' anything.
dragon
I'm quite certain that RM did not 'LEAD by example' anything. Did he not more accurately, follow an example?
pictues
seems to me Air Canada will survive and the holes in the ship are being repaired
Guest Boarding Card
I've always said, AC does't act. AC reacts!
Say Altitude
How about the other 1095 people? Were they all moving on to "other opportunities" as well? I doubt it....
