Multi-Factor Authentication changes coming: ensure you are compliant

Earlier this year, we rolled out a new tool for password updates. Next, we will be introducing and enforcing an enhanced Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) process for password updates, password resets (in the case of a forgotten password) or to regain access to your account if locked out.

If your password is more than six months old and/or you have not yet set up Multi-Factor Authentication on our new password management tool, follow these instructions to complete the actions below prior to Oct. 23:

  1. Change your password
  2. Set up a second factor of authentication (Authenticator app or text messages).

Failure to do so will result in a loss of access to Aeronet when the new requirements are enforced in phases between Oct. 23 and Nov. 17. If this occurs, you will need to contact the IT Service Desk and complete the necessary steps with the IT Service Desk representative.

For day-to-day authentication (accessing Aeronet or other Air Canada systems) you will continue to be able to use company-issued hardware tokens, but they are not valid as a form of authentication for any actions related to password management. Similarly, security questions can be used as a method of authentication for password-related actions but not for day-to-day authentication.

Retirees: this change will also apply to them. If you are in regular contact with any, please encourage them to take action and guide them through these steps if possible so they can maintain uninterrupted access to their account. If they require more comprehensive assistance, please ask them to contact the IT Service Desk and identify themselves as a retiree when asking for support.

Please read carefully.  This is a new MFA process that must be done by both active and retired employees to ensure that you continue to have access to the AC Aeronet and HRConnex.

Etc, etc.

Does not apply to employee travel site.
