Moon The Loon
Thanks Kip. Sent the link off to my Dad, a retired RN Seafire pilot at the end of the war and former resident of the City of London during the V-1 bombings.
blues deville
Great photos. A skipper I flew with during my short year at NX did too. Day one of a long overseas pairing on the DC8 a particular FE who had no use for civilian FO’s (have no idea why) and knowing full well I wasn’t ex-mil started talking about the planes he had crew’d as an FE in the RCAF/CAF. It was long list and not the first time I’d heard it. It was never done in a funny or nice way so I guess it was to put me in my place. He then asked me what I flew in the airforce and I had to remind him once again I hadn’t and he knew it. So that day I thought I was finally going to get him off my back. So I said “hey Capt. Ron, you were in the airforce. What was your last plane?” He very quietly said. “Seafire. I flew in the Battle of Britain”. The FE stopped the questioning. Same FE after adjusting every big card I produced for ten days by one knot missed his ride home after we landed back at YMX. Asked me for a ride home and drop off in Trenton. Said sure. Cranked up my radio all the way down the 401 to Glen Miller Drive. I think Capt Ron passed away recently but was a very cool and humble guy. Probably like your father Moon.
