If you want to get a paying job, get experience and look to Asia. I wouldn't waste a moment on the CEO and vulture hedge fund propaganda laden industry here. They are either in the pension heist mode or the koolaid mantra...you won't need one..

I wouldn't know what to advice to give today to young people who have a fire in their belly for aviation but if the shareholders and their multi-millionaire CEOs along with governments, particularly labour ministries, who side with corporate demands want the golden goo, er business to continue to flourish they're going to have to deal with what they've collectively done to the profession of "airline pilot" and a whole host of other negative pressures in the industry.

That said I'm not sure the Far East or the Middle East are more attractive yet - the gig is, I hear, still better, so far, here in Canada but it's way different story in the U.S.
