Kip Powick
Just your "average Taxi" right…….. WRONG Oh yes…. It's intentionally designed to look like a taxi, rof light, no markings etc. But the red lights aren't just "bling". The the roof sign actually says "Police" This is the latest POLICE RADAR CARS….. In use in Georgetown & Milton areas
John S.
It's illegal to impersonate a police car but what about taxis? Wouldn't it be fun if we all go around with 'Polite' signs pretending to be like taxis? (Of course in YVR you'd have to wear a turban to be politically correct.) newgirl
Our city uses a mix of "normal cars" to catch us speeders and they are really hard to pick out. In one area of our city they have a favourite road to sit on. One side is a cemetary and on the other side of the road are the back yards of the houses. Pedestrians have their own foot path. It's a 50km speed limit but should be 60. My other peeve is they never bother to set up the radar traps in the school zones. Ours are 40km and yahoos are blowing through at 60kms regularly. Good grief, dead people in a cemetary or school kids- like duh! What's more important?
Trader
Speeding fines are viewed as a source of REVENUE! The police and municipalities need cash so protecting a school zone is less important than finding a good hiding spot - especially if it is in an area where the posted speed is low. Not unlike the firend who travlled through a stop sign that was blocked by a huge maple branch in small town. The cop knew full well that the sign was difficult to see and was waiting for it. To attempt to fight it means driving back up there and spending and spending half a day in court. So most simply pay the fine.
boestar
This car was pulled off the road earlier this summer due to an overewhelming number of protests against its use. When it became common knowlegdge that it was in use people were slamming on the brakes every time a Taxi went by. The use of a vehicle like is, as was stated before, designed to generate revenue NOT reduce the nuber of speeders or dangerous drivers on the road. If the police really wanted to reduce the numbers they would have a more visable presence on the roads instead of being parked side by side in the Timmys Parking lot
