C'mon Dragon,"AC will spend 2.2B less this year, that would, if carried over, translate to even, a great accomplishment." the only results I can see from all these savings are less staff ,lower paycheques and alot of unhappy customers (granted some of the latter could be attributed to all of the disasters of the past 2 years). In your opinion big changes HAVE been made, well now is not the time to stop making changes, you continue until the company has a profit margin ,and you know that we can only slash so much before we lose even more market share. At any rate, we will soon see what choices are made.

Re: "remember the 146's and the old F28 and what kind of flying it used to do, well you catch my drift."

Hmmm... ?... Sounds like you're drifting towards not flying weed whackers.

Ya, you're probably right... I just don't get it. I still think the best flying job I've seen is the Beaver on floats gig out among the Gulf Islands, but obviously the best jobs don't pay enough. Odd how that works. I'd rather be fixing little rag-winged Champ's and flying school trainers at some club where everyone who's there is happy about being there... No money in that either.

I don't see how the bigger picture improves by morphing Jazz into what Zip is. I thought the Zip idea was lower costs, plus a little brand confusion... more boxes on the shelf.

Anyway, if I've managed to give you some light hearted entertainment by my limited understanding of how this all works, that's ok by me. But maybe you could take a few moments to help me understand why it'd be better for AC to have you guys flying 37's and 319's?

hi there floatrr

I typoed, 5.5B, of course that should have read 5.5M for an even 2.2B year over year, assuming the exact same inefficient AC. Of course, we will not sustain a minus 5.5, nor will report similar Q3. A lot of the inefficiencies are being addressed,… IMO.

As for the staffing levels, paycheques and customers.. we were fat and unhappy, we are not fat anymore, we are getting happier I think. Sure I make 20% less and that sucks but all in all, it is still pretty good, I can live with it a lot easier than I could live without it.. as for the bottom guys and the Jazz guys, the bottom is not even near to sight yet, God, or someone like it, help you all.. Calin will be on this one like a bad smell on decaying flesh.. customers.. I mixed with a few the day after the lights went out.. I think the customers will be OK as well.. perhaps however, I am naive..

15% from employees and a sh*tload from begrudging yet willing leasors and suppliers, does not affect market share, only bottom line. Trimming unprofitable routes does not dilute market share, it assists and polishes quarterly results..

I agree some changes are still required.. Let me ask you.. what changes are still required in your opinion?..

Off for a run..

Weed Whackers! Bite your tongue! The Fisher Price Jets and F28's are far from weed whackers. Personally I don't see the advantage of "the farm team" flying the 37's 319's etc. ,but I do see the advantage of "the farm team" flying all the RJ's and doing it point to point for a profit. As far as Jazz flying the bigger stuff, well let's just say the creditors and judges will decide that through a competitive bidding process. That is how it was supposed to work originally. If ACPA is successful with their latest maneuver with trying to have themselves declared as "a creditor" then we can almost be guaranteed the outcome of the CCAA will be skewed in their favour somehow,as it has in the past. Alas, resulting in the same outcome eventually. Application for credit protection or liquidation.

Dragon, There isn't an easy way to say this or sugar coat it, so please don't take offence.

1) Fire the entire upper management, including Milton. Honestly, I can't tell you what the share value was 10 years ago but it has not performed very well with this management, so it's time to change it and shake up that mandarin tree in Montreal. I know it's been a tough couple years but it needs to be changed.

2) Then let the CCAA process continue unhindered or un influenced by unions seeking only self preservation and not the sole efficiency of the airline. This is the only way to ensure that the decisions that are made are made solely for business reasons and not political reasons.

3)Refer to number 1.

That was funny – in a good way.

I pretty much agree with 1 and 3. The way I see it, Milton is pretty much out of friends, pretty much out of good will and pretty much out of opportunity – puts him pretty much out of work from where I sit, at least at his current capacity.

I have said since day 1 that once this mess is signed off, the new owners will import a new team. Though there are some musings around to the contrary, imo these comments are likely meant to stabilize and nothing more. Milton and the board have been reduced to spectator status. The new owners will clean house, including the pathetic bunch of incompetent fools that reside on the board as well as the M&A specialist/labour genius.

RE: 2 The process will continue.. speaking pilots, ACPA and ALPA WILL become involved as will all other employee unions and that is where the low ball will be the successful ball. Like I mentioned earlier, I am happy that I am over that hump, so to speak – it will be ugly and the hatred felt, the mistrust that Rovinescu has set up will fall to one side or the other, will be another bitter disappointment for many employees alike.

All imo of course.

Dragon,

RE: response to number 2. Hopefully if the two (ACPA,ALPA) are involved, which it sounds like they want to be, it is for the collective betterment of the company and not just a job protection thing. Job protection is a good thing to have, but it is useless if there is no job to protect because the company went liquid due to, in large part, the job protection. Have a good one.
