pictues
On one of my yahoo groups that talk about orders one of the guys posted saying an inside source from Airbus told him that Air Canada will recieve their A340-500's in January 2004. Any thoughts?

Super 80
wouldn't be the first time Airbus has delivered planes to failing airlines.
Guest Max Continuous
Just guessing but I'll bet that it's true. Airbus Industry probably knows all too well that AC and the industry will eventually turn the corner. I'll bet they've made AC an offer that they just couldn't refuse ... something like The Brick, no payments 'til 2008.
dagger
Airbus was a year late with those planes to begin with and faced significant penalities. My assumption would be that AC would use that as leverage - and the fact that it is one of Airbus's best customers - to get a sweatheart deal. If it's a January delivery date, AC gets the planes just before the Chinese New Year if it wants to fly them Toronto-HKG, or for the summer peak in the Southpac. Guest Max Continuous
Maybe combined with the Winter Olympics announcement, it's a little flicker of light at the end of a long tunnel. http://www.cbc.ca/cp/business/030704/b070447.html
Guest Max Continuous
Maybe that combined with the activities of the International Olympic Organizing committee, will serve as a flicker of light at the end of a very long tunnel. http://www.cbc.ca/cp/business/030704/b070447.html
