Kasey
Yesterday, the Senate voted to pass pension protection into law. This long-overdue legislation will provide financial security and peace of mind to millions of workers and their families, by prioritizing workers’ pensions over mega-banks and CEO bonuses if their employer files for insolvency. Pension protection has been a priority for Canada’s unions for decades. And now, thanks to your pressure, our government is finally putting workers and pensioners first. We’re powerful when we organize together. Since last month, over 4,000 CURC activists like you sent letters and over 600 made calls to show support for the pension protection bill. Thanks for being part of this. In solidarity, Your team at the Congress of Union Retirees of Canada
neverminds
So was this a decision on private or public DB pensions?
Airband
The bill covers private-sector defined-benefit company pension plans.
neverminds
Ok that is indeed a milestone. Prior to this, public DB pensions were safe but private DB were all bets off(remember Sears/HBC)
