Air Canada's CEO and Chief Restructuring Officer - potential $20 Million Bonus!

Employees of Air Canada Mainline/ZIP - Potential Lay-Offs!

January 16th, 2004

The purpose of this newsletter is to inform and mobilize the pilots and any other employees to fight against the significant impact that future Company actions may have for all of its mainline employees.

Should the Company continue down the path they are on, our ability to defend our contracts and our work could be severely impaired.

Decisions could be made in the next few days and weeks that will affect the number of new jets that will be flown at mainline Air Canada. The number of those jets could be

as high as 90 - or higher, if they exercise options with the aircraft manufacturers.

If the decisions are to fly the new aircraft at any place other than the mainline, there can be ONLY one result for the mainline employees .

The ACPA MEC convened a one-day emergency meeting on Wednesday, January 14th to discuss the Company's decision to renege on a promise made to its mainline pilots during the restructuring negotiations of last May and June.

We have given too much this year to see the Company give away our jobs!

* We want you to share this information with at least one other Air Canada/ Air Canada ZIP employee.

* We want you to discuss this with your fellow pilots and employees.

* We want you to take EVERY opportunity to discuss this issue with any managers you may encounter during the next several days.

• We want you to convey this message, as well, to

• Robert Milton (robert.milton@aircanada.ca),

• Rob Giguere (robert.giguere@aircanada.ca)

• Calin Rovinescu (calin.rovinescu@aircanada.ca).

Instead of fostering labour relations mischief, Air Canada has to be told they cannot continue to renege on promises, disregard contracts and treat their employees with contempt - without a backlash.

It is time for us all to take action! Please forward to all your collegues!

Perhaps it's time for Don Johnson to realise that the company must make difficult descisions in an attempt to survive.

By the way, was he Crockett or Tubbs?

rance,

Actually ACPA and its predessor CALPA have a long history of making difficult decisions that benefit the company. We made a huge sacrifice last summer. For 18 months prior to that we took a big hit to save jobs and save the company training costs. Its been going on ever since I've been here.

I'm confident the company will make the right choice soon.

You think that this only affects ACPA? Your ignorance is quite disturbing.

Give your head a shake and read the document again.

If things remain status quo at the mainline, than all those jobs will be lost anyway.

This is only about ACPA flying all jets, not about what is best for the survival of the company.

Simple questions:

- which employee group check-in Jazz(AC) customers at all of the medium and large stations?

- which employee group handle all of the Jazz(AC) ramp functions at all of the medium and large stations?

- which employee group performs 100% of the Jazz(AC) revenue accounting, marketing, and sales functions?

- which employee group handle 100% of the Jazz(AC) reservations/bookings functions?

- which employee group exclusively staff the ACTS division which perform all of the heavy aircraft maintenance on jets?

Just the facts please. I cannot figure out how these employee groups have been or will be negatively affected by Jazz adding even one flight.
