  1. The same company that owns Pratt & Whitney, and is on the hook for billions of $$$ for the geared turbo fan engine fiasco being experienced by any operator of those engines. That's why there are so many A220 and A320NEO aircraft sitting around the world waiting for new engines.
  2. Facinating! That thing could fly so fast, it would start to melt! I refueled one of these in West Germany, although the Americans will deny it was ever there. It was on it's way back to England after bombing Libya in 1986. Most of the European countries had denied overflight for the mission, so they had to take a very long roundabout route to get to their target. The Americans did a rehearsal for this mission in Goose Bay. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1986_United_States_bombing_of_Libya
  3. I laughed at first, thinking you were joking. I still thing those wings had probably already been removed, but... who knows?
  4. Interesting that the artist is an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. What a talented bunch!
  5. Wonder what caused the diversion 4 days prior to the slat incident?
  6. I think the CRJ line was sold to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) who already manufactured a good part of the aircraft.
  7. purview noun the limit of someone's responsibility, interest, or activity:
  8. Thanks Kip, now I get it. I didn’t recognize William with all that hair!
  9. I don't know who either of them are... and that's ok with me!
  10. Interesting story. I remember reading about this shortly after it happened, and Air Canada had recently installed tracking devices in all of their vehicles. Some of the guys were not happy about being tracked all the time...
  11. Are you being sarcastic, or did it actually work for WestJet? I know it didn't work very well for Air Canada when they outsourced some of this work to India... I remember calling about some lost luggage, and the agent barely spoke English.
  12. Outsourcing your Customer Service… yeah, that’s gonna work well..
  13. A pretty simple solution. If there are any defects noted, then other more sophisticated NDT devices can be used to further investigate. The "tap-test" is a long accepted technique, which I'm sure some of us have used while trying to locate a stud inside a wall.
  14. Seems obvious to me… they want to be paid for some time period prior and after each flight, because that is time spent “working”. Currently that is unpaid time. Also, they want to staff some flights with more F/As than what they do now, which creates more F/A jobs. Anyone can correct me if I’m wrong..
  15. 16,000 feet... man, that's pretty deep. It'll cost a few bucks to try and retrieve it.
  16. What does your statement mean, in relation to this story? I don’t get it…
  17. Thanks Malcolm. I couldn't find any information about them; these little guys are facinating, and they should have a BIG future in explorations!
