HeadingAltitudeSpeed
I think you will find that there are more controllers with pilot licences than you might expect. I suspect that there are very few career pilots that hold (or have trained for) ATC licences. I do have an ATPL but haven't exercised the associated privileges for some time. Had to start new thread because the reply option wouldn't work for some reason.
Kip Powick
Reply option not working..... Sometimes one goes to post a reply before the page is fully loaded and that will cause an error. If the "post a response" does not work, reselect AEF and wait until the page is fully loaded. If you do a lot of writing on AEF you may want to clear your cache as well. Guest Fax
Sometimes your "system" inhibits pop-ups, which is the form that replies take....check your security software & disable it, then try again.
Guest niko
How difficult it is for a retired ATPL to get an ATC licence?
HeadingAltitudeSpeed
As far as licencing goes any pilot licence has zero value. Other than already holding a valid medical any other aviation licence brings nothing to the table. The aquired knowledge does make understand and comprehension of concepts easier. Navcan does not open any doors because of you ATPL. Off the street or with a licence you still jump through same hoops. Write the entrance exam and pass Pass the interview(s) Pay your fee and go to Cornhollio Pass NCTI and get posted on the other side of the country Take unit and specialty specific training Meet the standards and become licenced. DEFCON
Re Cornwall - "pay your fee"? What kind of medical do you people do and is it of any practical value?
HeadingAltitudeSpeed
The fee is the cost of the program. From the Navcan page: (http://atsrecruitment.navcanada.ca/welcome.html) Please note that tuition fees are charged for ATS career training courses. Tuition costs are $3,500 for IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) training, $2,500 for VFR (Visual Flight Rules), and $1,000 for FSS (Flight Service Specialist). The medical is a MOT Cat 2 medical. Basically a Cat 1 medical on a Cat 3 schedule.
