Guest q650
Are there any airlines in Canada that allow flight deck crew to have goatees? If disallowed, what is the reason, the old oxygen mask thing? -q650
CD
Here's an advisory circular with some information, although no mention of goatee's... Guest q650
Interesting, a goatee in fact can cover very minimal skin-to-mask surface is well trimmed. A new series of tests should be in order given the popularity of this mini beard.
Flapsforty
WJ allows well trimmed goatees. Cheers.
Guest q650
Right on, good for you at WJ. I think they should be allowed unless the company, mask company or TC can prove it's unsafe.
Maranatha
Man, things must be really boring if we're reduced to talking about facial hair? Where's all the outrage and indignation gone? This place is getting downright benign! P.S. Facial hair is allowed at all European airlines, but not in Canada. Everything else goes in this country, but not beards for pilots. Guest Marion Vanderlubbe
Sharkey Ward, a RN Fleet Air Arm (fleet air stump?) pilot got three kills in the Falklands, had no trouble flying a SH with a beard. A Saudi Eagle pilot got two kills in Gulf War I, he had a beard. I've been in the gas hut with Pioneer Platoon guys with beards, no problems in a NBC environment. Certain countries have military personal with beards who wear masks and it's never been an issue.
Guest qb
Actually I think if you're Vancouver based it's mandatory to have one. qb
