Guest blizzard
I heard that Spar in YYC is no longer doing WestJet's heavy maintenance. I also heard a rumour that it will be done by a company in Quebec. Who will be doing WestJet's heavy maintenance now that it is no longer at Spar? Guest AME
Like most things at Westjet, they shop around for the best price, and don't do things because " That's the way we've always done it" some go to spar some to kelowna some to goodyear etc... Or at least that's what I've been told. kind of a novel business concept when you think about it

Guest blizzard
Things that make you go hmmm... If I asked Joe Public which Canadian airline does all their 737 maintenance in Calgary and which Canadian airline does all their 737 maintenance in Quebec, what do you think their answer would be? (PS for those who don't know, all Air Canada 737 heavy maintenance is done in Calgary)

E-HANDLE
Are you implying that WestJet maintenance is somehow sub-standard? Because if you are, I'd love to see your facts.
Mitch Cronin
Hi Fax... Based on what I know of the guys doing WJ's maintenance -- many of whom once did ALL of CDN's heavy maintenance on our 37 fleet -- and based on the wording in what Malcolm just posted for AC, I think it's safe to assume WJ can do everything up to and including 'D' checks on their own birds. Which pretty much covers it.
Guest Fax
That's good to hear. I have a little more faith in an airline maintaining a better grip on quality control by keeping as much maintenance as possible "in house". Cheers. E-Handle, I enjoy flying your airline...now as a full fare paying "guest"...just came back from Saskatoon via Westjet. We even loved the corny jokes. Guest AME
You'd be interested to know that once AC spins off it's Maint (ACTS) the only "In house" maint they'll be doing is line all heavy and component maint will be farmed out hopefully to ACTS, but no guarantees
