Guest Fmrc3ame
Beware everyone if you intend to resign from Air Canada. The airline has decided that employees who resign don't have to be paid for 5 weeks or more. They have decided to violate the Federal Labour laws and withold all monies owing including hours already worked and due. Even with Federal Government intervention they have the " I don't care attitude". They are currently using CCAA umbrella as their protection from fines and will not pay any employees who resign now. This is just a heads up for those of you if your contemplating resignation. I know as I am currently going through this. So Beware!

Guest Simcoe
RJ's are nice, but has anyone ever stopped to consider that SWA actually targets RJ markets because of the high CASM these airplanes produce? RJ operators can't be profitable with SWA type fares. It's no different in Canada. Try to find any markets SWA operates that have been impacted by RJ flying. You won't. Why? Because high costs, and low fares don't work. Mesa tried a service at Love Field and they lost their shirts. Air Canada tried them out west in 1997 and that lasted less than a year. Don't think for a second that Jazz has lower costs than Mesa, or Horizon for that matter. Jazzy Joe will claim otherwise, RJ's to challenge a low cost carrier is not the answer. It's never worked anywhere else in the world and it's not going to work here. ALPA are dreaming if they think WJA are shaking in their spaceboots over this one. They are more likely licking their chops.....
Guest Simcoe
To further prove the point, a recent industry publication showed SWA's direct operating costs of its 122 strong 737-700 fleet at $1,561 an hour, for 137 seats. Horizon, with lower wages, operates 15 RJ70's with costs of $1,709 an hour for 70 seats. In the right market, SWA can give away about 75 seats for any fare it wants, which have to be matched by Horizon if they want to go head to head, (which is the last thing Horizon wants to do). With very few exceptions, (SEA-GEG), Horizon puts them in places where SWA won't go. Smart move. Is AC smart enough to figure that out? You can see why SWA just LUV RJ'S. Guest Dash eight
Ok stop the ride... are we talking about RJs as low cost feeder to supply traffic for zip? or do you mean that the rjs will be low cost carrier to compete with westjet?
