FA@AC
This is just a FYI. The Cuban government decided about 3 weeks ago to make it illegal to export or import CUC. If caught importing them, a traveller would probably have them confiscated or be forced to convert them to CUP. CUP can still be taken in and out of the country. I don't think a traveller that has been there before would be subject to harassment if they brought in a few CUCs (Convertible Peso) Now days all prices are pretty much based on the CUC which is close to 1 to 1 with the US dollar.I have never seen anything that says the CUP can be exported in and out of the country...do you have a link? FA@AC
I thought I had read that both import and export of CUC were recently made illegal, but I may have been mistaken. Sorry. Per the link below, however, export of CUC is not permitted. Whether there's a grandfather clause that would allow the import of CUC that had been exported before the prohibition isn't made clear. Maybe it's just down to what mood customs officials are in on a given day. Cuba does some strange things.http://www.aduana.co.cu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=49&Itemid=191〈=en
Kip Powick
Cuba does some strange thingsIndeed...On one departure they held an aircraft just for me.......they wanted to go through my laptop and look at all my photos to ensure I had not taken any photos of Military Establishments.Fortunately I did not get sarcastic and tell him that there were 196 other people in the airplane that had cameras with them !!When I finally was 'released' and escorted to the aircraft I got a hearty round of applause from the waiting pax !!!! :Grin-Nod:Edited for speling mustakes
