  2. Hi Kip As we are aware, Amazon is using the drone thing, but this move by Boeing is the next step. Start with a small unmanned aircraft, gain experience, then scale up. Yes, it will start with cargo, but won't take long to transfer to pax when the savings are realised. Just ask elevator operators.

  8. Defcon, It's not just pilots. The revolving door is below the wing, and it has definitely become a much more dangerous place to be.
  9. Congrats to the Harper Regime! They carried on about how the Libs messed up the helicopter purchase, now they've show us once again they know how to do it better With all associated costs eventually, care to wager the over/under on the final price?
  10. http://pushedleft.bl...e-tax-cuts.html On March 19, 2008, Stephen Harper posed for a photo-op at London's Electro-Motive plant to showcase a $5-million federal tax break given to Caterpillar, the American buyers of the Canadian company. When Caterpillar, famous for union busting in the United States, amid record profits, wanted the employees to take a 50% pay cut and surrender their benefits, amazingly no new Harper photo-op. This article has the picture... http://www2.macleans.ca/2012/02/06/the-commons-when-photo-ops-go-wrong/
  11. Well,,,, Steve was willing to pay CAT $5million to get his picture in a locomotive, I guess the price to get one in a F-35 is a tad higher
  12. The only question I want to throw into the mix is... When taking off out of Cold Lake, wouldn't a pilot appreciate the second engine on the trip up into the Arctic? Iceman

  14. One must realise though, it doesn't snow when it's cold. The heaviest snowfalls occur when the temps are moderately cold just below zero. Iceman
  15. Reading an article like this, what I get from it is that the problem isn't with the carbon credit trading, it is with the unscroupulous 'traders' that are milking the system. Much like what happened in the aviation industry with the unscroupulous types 'unlocking value' so that they could siphon out billions, the same thing is happening here. The unfortunate part is that as always, governments are left to close the barn door after the criminals have already cleaned it out.

  18. Another area to question is how is the economic turndown affecting global warming? With fewer trucks, autos, trains and aircraft operating, is there a resultant drop in atmospheric CO2 that is making for a temporary cooling? All I can say is that the bluest skies over Toronto I have ever seen were the three days after 9/11 when there was absolutely no air traffic....... Iceman
