Guest GDR
>>Northwest expects to reduce number of furloughed pilots. According to Aviation Daily, Northwest advised its pilots union that based on recent 2004 flying forecasts, the airline has reduced the amount of pilots it expected to furlough, and may even recall some pilots next year. The company said that 155 fewer pilots would be laid off than originally anticipated. For now, 20 pilots will be laid off starting today, Sept. 30, with another 20 pilots laid off on Oct. 31.<< Let's hope that this is a harbinger of things to come at Air Canada. I think that there are many reasons to be optimistic. Greg
DEFCON
MESABA unfortunately has one of those power by the hour deals with NWA. It looks like NWA ALPA has done a back door deal with NWA and NWA will now be doing all MESABA's 146 flying with their own eqiupment. Jazz people shouldn't be too excited about its arrangement with AC for exactly the same reason.
