AA accident at Little Rock

Last night I watched a "dramatic" re-creation of that AA flight that crashed in 1999 in Little Rock, Arkansas. (I didn't think the show was very well done) I be interested to hear from some pilots opinions here as to why that crew acted as they did.

It seems there was 3 MAJOR factors here.

(1) They tried to land after RVR was declared below minimums.

(2) They tried to land after cross-winds were reported gusting over 50 knots.

(3) The biggie, they neglected to arm the spoilers.

Why didn't they go for the alternate, or return to Dallas? Is there that much pressure from management to complete the mission? I realize that pilot personality types are "can-do" types, but jeez....
