Air Canada 737's

I was booking a flight this morning from Ottawa to Toronto (AC449) for the end of September and I was suprised to see a 737 on my itinerary for a mainline Air Canada flight.

The only mainline Air Canada 737's I have seen recently are in Vancouver and missing engines.

So what is the 737 situation at Air Canada?

How many are being flown by Zip and Tango and how many continue to be flown by Air Canada mainline and charter?

And how quickly will they be phased out from each respective wing?

According to 2002 annual report, On December 31st Air Canada owned 1 and leased 24 opperational 737's

plus 11 unflyable or otherwise out of service 737's

I know some Zip 737's have been returned to their owners since then.

Anyone care to fill in the blanks?

Hot Rumour that AC has extended the leases on ten 737s despite claiming to park them later this year.

Reliable source!
