Moon The Loon
Hi RR: From what my friends have told me who go on the Japanese contracts, it's about 9 months before they actually go on the line. I'm sure others will shed more light as days go by - I just saw no one had responded to your request so far. So you wanna be a contract pilot, eh? Guest Oldtimer
You have to write an exam on aviation law. I think that you still must be sponsored and trained by a Japanese carrier to get a Japanese ATR. I flew for ANA for a couple of years and my checkout took 9 months and I had 4000 hours on the B767 when I went there. The JCAB seem to be totally out of step with the real world and think that you not only have to know how to fly but also how to build not only the airplane but also the whole aviation strcture. Having said this I would not trade my experience in Japan for anything-the highlight of over 40 years of flying. All the best!!
