Trader
Any truth to this ???? )...in another major faux pas, the president of the Calgary Airport Authority tipped off the chief of WestJet Airlines Ltd. to confidential flight information, infuriating rival Air Canada, which complained about the incident in a letter in early May. Lawyers for Air Canada fired off an angry letter to Garth Atkinson, president of the airport authority, saying the exchange of information was a serious breach of the airline's relationship with the airport. The incident concerns a fax Mr. Atkinson sent Clive Beddoe on February 11th. According to Report on Business Mr. Atkinson said in the handwritten note; "As a follow up to our meeting; WestJet had 30 per cent more domestic traffic than the Air Canada group in the month of December 2003." At the bottom Mr. Atkinson added; "And you didn't hear this from me!" Air Canada's layers complained that the fax was highly inappropiate because it was clearly based on information the airline provided to the airport in confidence.
