Kip Powick
CTV News (Toronto) Couple flew back to YYZ on Air Jamaica..( Guyana/Jamaica/Toronto) Apparently they took some frozen seafood to the airport in Guyana but ............... The airline told them that the aircraft they were flying on could not hold their frozen food because their chiller was broken . They put the frozen food in their largest suitcase Arrived in YYZ...no suitcase...they thought it had been left behind Air Jamaica told them the suitcase and all its contents, (clothes, shoes, many family photos, and camera as well as frozen sea food), had been "destroyed" by the airline because the suitcase was leaking (melting). Air Jamaica told the pax that they had the right to destroy any baggage they felt was not safe/unhealthy to carry Couple wanted $1500.00 compensation. Air Jamaica gave them a $75.00 voucher and told them they should have been aware of the regulations and rules of the airline. Live and learn ...I guess
