Plane lands on Trans-Canada Highway:

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. (CP) — The Trans-Canada Highway became a makeshift airstrip when a small aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing on the roadway in Newfoundland.

The single-engine plane was en route to Halifax from St. John’s when it encountered thick fog shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.

The pilot put down on the highway just east of Port Aux Basques, on the southwest tip of the island.

RCMP said nobody was hurt in the incident, including the pilot and a passenger.

One other light aircraft travelling with the plane landed safely on a nearby airstrip while another companion plane continued on to Halifax.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Well now... Dat last bit about de udder two makes tings sound just a wee bit fishy... wouldn't ya say?
