To the back Riggs UPDATE add Biffle, Newman, Craven, Cope UPDATE add Stewart?: #10-Scott Riggs will go to a backup car for the Daytona 500 after wrecking in the Gatorade Twin 125's, so he will fall to the rear of the field before the drop of the green flag on Sunday.(2-13-2004)

UPDATE: #16-Greg Biffle, whose Ford qualified on the pole for Sunday's running of the Daytona 500, will start the race from the rear of the field after his team made an engine change Saturday afternoon. Crew chief Doug Randolph and his crew were working as a steady rain fell outside the team's garage stall at Daytona International Speedway. Randolph said the decision was made after excessive leakage was seen in a cylinder during routine checks after the practice.

The engine change means that all of the cars on the inside row will move up to take the green flag in the Daytona 500, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. at the head of that line. Earnhardt Jr. earned the No. 3 starting spot with a victory in Thursday's first 125-mile qualifying race.

#12-Ryan Newman will also be going to the back of the field for today's green flag after his team changed engines following a spin in the practice session. Newman will give up the 20th starting spot to go to the back of the field.

#32-Ricky Craven [was to start 28th] and #50-Derrike Cope [was to start 42nd] also changed engines and will drop to the rear of the field, as will #10-Scott Riggs, who will be using a backup car following a crash in his 125-miler on Thursday. The cars will assume new positions at the rear of the field in the order they qualified, beginning with Biffle.(ThatsRacin.com)(2-14-2004)

UPDATE 2: on Fox Sport Net's NASCAR This Morning, it was reported that #20-Tony Stewart [scheduled to start 5th] will also have to fall to the rear of the field before the start of the Daytona 500, didn't catch if they had to go to a backup or change an engine, last I heard the car only had sheet metal damage, unless they found more damage later.(2-15-2004)
