Databus
In YYC there are 3 737-200's parked in front of hgr 101 and 2 out by the fire training area. All these A/C have the Zip name removed. Whats up with these birds? They are all ex-CP machines so probably the oldest ones in the zip fleet, but is this the result of downsizing? Zip hasn't started flying anything other than the -200S have they? How many in the zip fleet now and what was the highest fleet count zip ever had? Just curious... ( Hey Fraggle...are you out there? )
Guest Dash eight
We heard that Zip is down to 10 aircraft now. They suffere from the old aircraft syndromw like westjet the 200s are due for some spar reinforcing pretty soon so the higher timed ones are being weeded out? Databus
Spar reinforcing?......oh? Hmmm...maybe you mean something about the horizontal stab texas star spar? Anyway, thanks for the info. Do you know how many the fleet max-ed out at? Are the retired ones being replaced? Were the retired ones lease-backs? Sorry for all the questions....! ChicoChico
in a nutshell Zip (as part of AC) was able to get out of some horrendous lease arrangements (paying as much as we now pay for a 747 lease I heard) while under ccaa. I would think an ew type would be in the oofing but that is MHO. Chico
