Observation on WJ success

Congratulations to WJ for posting some spectacular numbers.

There have been many good decisions made by WJ management from hedging fuel to hiring employees.

But IMHO, there are two things that WJ has done which should be an absolute requirement of any airline:

#1 operate only 1 type of airplane

(Air Canada seems to be moving towards an all-Airbus fleet)

#2 avoid the BS airports

(Air Canada should really take note of this. Instead of making Vancouver and Toronto integral parts of the AC system diversify into Victoria/Kelowna/Abbotsford instead of YVR. Waterloo, Hamilton, London and Oshawa instead of Toronto).

This is MY pet peeve, "Airport Authorities." If I was AC I'd add 5000 feet of pavement to Oro-Barrie and start a bus service from Union Station until the GTAA declared bankruptcy.

Westjet is doing a very good job of providing access to Torotonians at YYZ. At the same time they could pull out tomorrow and it would have minimal impact on their bottom line.

It is just not right that passengers pay more in taxes and security fees and AIFs than they do in AIRFARE to the airline that is providing the service.
