Originally conceived as a bomber for long range missions and patrols, the production aircraft were redesigned and classified for long-range general transport because of the demonstrated heavy-lift capability of the prototype. A good family friend & neighbour of ours used to fly 'em...Dan MacIvor. At Sprout Lake on Vancouver Island, (at 7-8 years old) we were given a tour & walked the wings.
