If the sentiment shown on this forum is any indication of reality then Air Canada has no hope. Its problems are chronic and even after a restructuring it will only continue to lose money as seniority awards continue to be appealed and infighting and bitterness overshadow any attempt at attracting market share.

I'm sure the creditors and/or investors and government is aware of the poor state of employee relations within and would consider this prior to throwing good money after bad.

Its true that your management created this mess through mergers and aquisitions (read Jazz family of airlines) without offering any leadership with regard to seniority issues. They stood back and said "let the unions sort it out". Date of hire should be the legal standard. It seems the Dutch have it right. If management feels a company is valuable enough to purchase, then the employees who helped peroduce that value should be given full recognition. If these rules are hard and fast and on the table before a buyout decision than management can decide the impact on performance and morale before making the purchase. The truth of the matter -the employees are not responsible for the success/failure of their company. Management is either by not properly motivating their employees or by hiring the wrong people for the job. Everyone should get full credit for their time in a merger situation as management, the same group who hired the so called "original employees" also are the ones who decided to "merge" with the second company. Thes problems should be addressed before a buyout and then a sound decision could be made on whether or not to continue.

If Air Canada liquidates, and if this forum is any indication of the true state of affairs I'm sure it will, the main reason will be due to irreconsilable differences amongst employees.

Air Canada is a mess and not just financially. Its way past its time.

What's that voice...sure sounds a lot like the "fat lady" is warming up!

One thing "Go Around", the employees ARE in a large part resopnsible for the success of a company. If the employee sentiment is anything like in this forum, the "fat lady" will be singing shortly!

They are, but it is management who failed to properly motivate them and lay down the ground rules rather than put them in the predicament of having to fight with each other over work share.

Yes, the relations are a mess right now but the voices here are a very small minority of the AC group. Over in other private forums you will find over 70% of the pilots are in favour of the new TA. That being said I find it sad though that the media and others in this country get their information from a rumour and emotional based few that float around here.

Until definative information is released we should all sit back and relax a little bit.

Cheers

Yeah hopefully one of the loudest voices here will consider another self imposed exile from this forum as well.......see the post "Dick's Agenda" just below.

Good Post. So lets just make everyone happy and close the doors.......That would ensure a viable aviation industry that the new players would work to protect.....not destroy. Get your new start with one of the upstarts....BOTL of course and finish off your careers with a vibrant industry.

IMO
