Guest GI-Joe
The always-inept Scott Tapson endears himself to our flight attendants yet again: Effective March 1, 2003, we will remove J-class service from four of our BAe146 jets currently operating in Western Canada. We are making this change due to the significant lack of demand for the J-class product in these markets. This will also enable us to provide additional hospitality product to these communities in Western Canada to which the BAe146 operates. We will not reconfigure the aircraft cabins, but will offer consistent in-flight service throughout the aircraft. As a result of this change, the requirement for in-flight staff will be reduced from three to two per flight. This situation, along with changing scheduling requirements, will unfortunately impact our requirement for in-flight staff and as a result we have identified 70 surplus positions. We will attempt to mitigate the impact to staff by working with the Teamsters through various methods (ie. reduced blocks, special leaves of absence). The J-class product for the six BAe146s operating in Eastern Canada will continue to operate with J-class service given the ongoing demand for the product in this market.
