The Senate is expected to approve the extension before Saturday, when the budget year ends. “It would be irresponsible to let this lapse,” said Sen. Mitch McConnell, majority leader. The extension allows more time for debate on whether air traffic control should be privatized, and whether changes should be made in the requirements for commercial pilots.
