Kip Powick
As we close in on another Remembrance Day I thought it might be appropriate to post a video not seen that often. This was shot with a 8mm camera back in 1945 when the Japanese surrendered and the folks in Hawaii went wild. Passed to me by another fellow who, like me was not in the mix, but will never forget those that were.FILM - Honolulu, August 14, 1945.Great video of a Spontaneous Victory Parade in Honolulu in 1945.This video is absolutely fabulous! Notice the cars and jeeps, the guys in khakior gray shirts and black ties are Navy officers or chiefs. The rest are Army or Marine. This guy really captured a moment in history! (You can listen to Jimmy Durantesinging "I'll be Seeing You" in the background, too)This is a super video of a time past - we need to remember and be THANKFUL.http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=CZ85j6U2Fvs
