Pearson named worst airport in Canada

Pearson International Airport is the worst airport in the country, according to a new poll.

Some 28 per cent of respondents in the FlightNetwork.com poll said Toronto’s airport was their least favourite.

The online travel website’s poll asked nearly 800 Canadians about bad pre-boarding experiences.

The number one gripe, at 18 per cent, was bad service. Canadians also complained about overcrowded and rundown airports, slow security checks, and a lack of food and entertainment choices.

Montreal’s Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport came in second-worst at 16 per cent, followed by Winnipeg International Airport at 14 per cent, Edmonton International Airport at 10 per cent and Halifax Stanfield International Airport at 6 per cent.

It’s not surprising Canada’s busiest airport was ranked lowest, said Naman Budhdeo, CEO of FlightNetwork.com.

“Canadians tend to have the most negative experiences at the airports that they spend the most time in,” Budhdeo said in a statement. “It makes sense that Pearson would have the highest vote for ‘worst’ airport based on the fact that it is Canada’s busiest airport.”
