Boeing gets 767 order from unnamed buyer

BLOOMBERG NEWS

The Boeing Co. won an order for four 767 jetliners worth $434 million from an unidentified customer, according to the company.

The order brings Boeing's total this year to 201 aircraft sold, compared with 217 for Airbus. The value is based on the low end of list prices for the plane, which doesn't include discounts often given to customers.

The order lengthens the life of the 32-year-old model, which is being replaced by Boeing's 7E7, scheduled for first delivery in 2008. Boeing also wants to continue production of the 767 to

boost the company's chances of winning a $23 billion Air Force contract for aerial refueling tankers based on the model.

The contract has been delayed because of investigations into Boeing's hiring of former Air Force negotiator Darleen Druyun, who was sentenced to prison last month for violating federal conflict-of-interest rules.

Druyun and former Boeing Chief Financial Officer Michael Sears discussed a job for her during the tanker talks. Sears pleaded guilty to deceiving the government.

.....

Sears has also been sentenced to six months in jail.

Druyun received a job as did her son-in-law and daughter.
