Western Rj's

Seeing alot of Rj's out west here in ywg and yeg ...the ones I used to fly on the US destinations and the eastern seaboard.

Did Jazz pull them off and replace them with the busses again and distribute them towards the praries to take up the zip slack.

I am sure that the change of destinations is a welcome change again to the yyz boys.

It always was a fun aircraft to fly.

cheers guys

I believe we here at Jazz received our first factory CRJ in OCT and it has the greater MTOW of 53,000 so it looks to be doing the Toronto- Houston / Dallas flights with the winter winds being what they are, it should be no problem with the additional 2000 lbs. Some flights like St. Louis and Raleigh have been switched back to the mainline and I think there might be a few others that I have missed. But the western push with the Jazz CRJ's are as follows:

2 daily flights Toronto- Winnipeg

2 daily flights Winnipeg- Toronto

2 daily flights Ottawa -Winnipeg

2 daily flights Winnipeg- Ottawa

1 daily flights Winnipeg- Saskatoon

1 daily flights Saskatoon- Winnipeg

4 daily flights Winnipeg- Calgary

4 daily flights Calgary- Winnipeg

3 daily flights Calgary- Victoria

3 daily flights Victoria- Calgary

2 daily flights Vancouver- Whitehorse DEC/04

2 daily flights Whitehorse- Vancouver DEC/04

1 daily flights Winnipeg- Montreal DEC/04

1 daily flights Montreal- Winnipeg DEC/04

I think this month shows 12 CRJ's in our fleet with 53 to follow by the end of 2006.

That appears to be about half Dash-8 flying and half old DC9 flying.

Whitehorse has seen everything, but not 2 frequencies in the winter.

The only Dash - 8 route was between Winnipeg - Saskatoon. But everything else was flown either by the Zip's 737/Airbus/ F-28 or the DC-9.

I guess now we offer the folks in Whitehorse a morning and a suppertime flight just on a smaller plane though.

It is not too long ago (prior to Zip) that YXE-YWG was Dash-8. Air BC days YYC-YYJ was Dash-8 after the BAE-146 was needed elsewhere.
