America West Announces New Service to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

PHOENIX, July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- America West Airlines (NYSE: AWA - News), the second largest low-fare carrier in the U.S., announced today that it will initiate the only daily nonstop, roundtrip service between its Phoenix hub and Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on Oct. 20, 2003.

Edmonton will be America West's fourth destination in Canada, where the airline currently provides low-fare service in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto. America West offers affordable fares that do not require a Saturday night stay as well as flexible ticketing policies that allow unused tickets to retain their value for a year and allow customers to fly standby for free on the same day as their originally scheduled flight.

Representatives from America West and Edmonton International Airport have been working very closely to facilitate a smooth transition for the airline's new service.

America West Express, which is operated by subsidiary airlines of Mesa Air Group, will provide the daily nonstop, roundtrip flights utilizing the popular 64-seat Canadair Regional Jet (CRJ) aircraft, which features seating for six in first class and 58 in the main cabin. This new service will offer customers connections to 48 cities across the U.S. and Mexico.

Edmonton is America West's third new destination in 2003. The airline initiated service to Memphis, Tenn., in April, and Cancun, Mexico, in June.
