Wow, is that ever misleading. All they are adding is a YQM-YYZ flight that connects to the existing YYZ-LGA flight. I guess AC should now advertise their new Moncton, NB - Lima, Peru service and Westjet could advertise their Fort Mac - Tampa service?

If AC or WS issued a press release every time they were able to connect two cities, they would be issuing them every day. What a brilliant marketing idea.

Both AC and Westjet do issue the same type of release. Just check out their websites under press releases....

eg/ WestJet to Commence Service Between Toronto and Tampa (Oct. 29, 2004)

Air Canada Continues South America Expansion with Inaugural of Non-stop Flights to Lima; Boosts Service to Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo

Duh. The point here is that the Canjet release about "new" service is actually about an additional flight that happens to connect through YYZ. The Westjet Tampa service and the AC Lima service actually are new and both are non-stop.

So, it says on airliners.net that Canjet has dropped Chicago-Midway flights...

True that?

There is no mention of Chicago on Canjet's website. I guess they quietly pulled the service. Everyone can now criticize the brilliant marketing folks at Canjet for their misjudgement of this market. I seem to remember many posters thinking that you haven't done your homework if you pull service with a few months of commencement. Maybe the LCC's are smart to pull service if things aren't working out as planned.

Well they gave it a few months and who say's they won't bring it back for the summer. It's still better then starting up for three weeks don't you think if you start a new route you must give it time to grow ? That's what Canjet did and at least they had a look at the bookings for six months down the road and said this is not working. I think Westjet feels like they must go after Jetsgo in FLA routes but they might get into a biger dog fight then they want and the next thing will be Jetsgo and Jazz will be right in the west with the F-100's and RJ's and don't forget about Air Canada with the Embraer which will take over for some RJ's when there is too much capacity. I still think Westjet should be looking at buying some Embraer aircraft because with one type of aircraft you limit your growth and now Jetsgo with the F-100's can grow in smaller markets and also into the west where you need to grow your capacity with smaller aircraft and this is how the smaller aircraft serves it's purpose as it can be a new route starter or go into markets already served and steal capacity untill the other guy bleeds and if the other guy can't adjust for the loss of capacity it's game over.
